Calabretta’s vineyards are located nearly a half mile above sea level in the black volcanic soils of Mt. Etna’s north slope in Sicily. Here, Calabretta farms roughly seven hectares of mostly 70- to 80-year-old vines—many of them ungrafted—on stepped terraces supported by stone walls.
This 100% Nerello Mascalese hits your mouth with an explosion of red fruit flavours that lead into spicy notes of cinnamon and floral herbs. The finish has a long and tingly acidity with a rustic black volcanic earthy note.
