Place: Savoie, France
Grass, spring water, sea shells, lemon pith, and a floral, yellow cherry. The palate has a foundation of pleasant apricot, salt, green herbs and stems. Lovely acidity, a touch of tannin under the tongue. Extremely drinkable, but don't let that fool you. Like the best Savoie whites, if you engage with this bottle, you'll find a lot going on under its cloak of endearing simplicity.
Domaine Blard & Fils is a family business, currently run by Jean-Noel and his son Thomas. Most of their wines come from the regions of Abymes and Apremont, which host soil types greatly affected by the 1248 landslide of Mt. Granier. The 2018 'Micraster' is 100% Jacquere grown in clay and limestone scree. Vines are 30 years and older. Fermented and aged in stainless steel for a short 3 months before bottling.
